Unfair Shake? -- Decades-Old Agreements Made with a More Rural Shelby County Have Memphis Doing More Than Its Share, Leaders Say
The City Council last year cut $66 million from the Memphis City Schools budget, a move that prompted school district officials to file a lawsuit against the city. Closing arguments in the Chancery Court case, which school officials hope will result in a ruling that defines the city's funding responsibilities, are scheduled to be heard on Monday.
