The Congress of Berlin ended in 1878 with the Treaty of Berlin, which recognized the independence of Romania, Serbia and Montenegro and the autonomy of Bulgaria. A few facts:

The meeting, dominated by German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, started June 13 to replace the March 3, 1878, Treaty of San Stefano, which ended the Russo-Turkish War and was seen by Western European powers as giving Russian too much power.
