Traveling Vietnam Wall Coming to Desoto in '12

Summary


Mobilizing to salute veterans of two wars, the DeSoto Board of Supervisors approved funds to help bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to the county in May 2012 and endorsed Sept. 17 this year as the date to honor those who fought in the Korean War.

"If it wasn't for them making all the sacrifices they made, we wouldn't be here. It's that simple," said Diane Moore, 63, of Lake Cormorant, who came to seek support for the Traveling Wall. She and husband R.G. Moore, 68, a Vietnam-era Marine veteran and retired Memphis police officer, also are helping plan the Korea event, which will be on the County Courthouse grounds in Hernando.
