Gov. Bill Haslam's call for a six-month study of the state's new teacher evaluation process is an appropriate response to complaints about the process and plans by legislators to let the tweaking begin.

It is too soon to make wholesale changes in a program that is in its infancy, but it is imperative to get this cornerstone of education reform right.
