Threat of Grass Fires Is High -- Desoto Considered in 'Dry Green' Situation

Despite all the rain that hit DeSoto County in the winter and early spring, conditions have returned to a "dry green" situation with a rising danger of grass and brush fires.

"We had a grass fire Tuesday near Miss. 305, between Bethel and Robinson Road, and it was dry green burning," said Mike Hancock, deputy director of emergency services for DeSoto County government.
