This summer 41 students and four teachers from the Mid-South area left Memphis International Airport as a huge crowd of family and friends waved and cried goodbyes from behind the gates. The group of students had been nominated, interviewed and trained as People to People Student Ambassadors. They were leaving the country, many for the first time, on a mission to spread global peace and understanding and to further their knowledge of the world .
The four experienced teachers that led this group were retired teacher Martha Turner , Susan Hoback , Lucie Rutledge and Laurel Childs . Before leaving the States, the students researched the countries they were visiting, participated in service projects to benefit the Ronald McDonald House and took part in team building activities at their monthly meetings, which culminated at Victory Ranch.See the full content of this document
