Memphis and Shelby County planners will suggest Thursday that the Land Use Control Board reject Wal-Mart's plan to put a Supercenter at Macon and Houston Levee roads, citing more traffic than the intersection of two-lane roads could handle.

On Tuesday evening, Wal-Mart officials were mulling whether to remove the site plan approval request from the board's agenda and regroup, said Dennis Alpert, senior manager of public affairs. But that wouldn't necessarily mean the project would be scrapped.
