LITTLE ROCK - A state senator on Tuesday dropped a school funding proposal that would have given some districts more money for transportation after Gov. Mike Beebe agreed to set aside funds that the schools could apply for instead.

Sen. Jimmy Jeffress, chairman of the Senate Education Committee, said he would drop his proposal, which would have given schools less money per student than Beebe's plan. Jeffress' proposal used the difference to give some districts more money for transportation.
