In an assessment as grim as the storm clouds rolling in late Saturday, authorities warned that heavy rains coupled with a steadily rising Mississippi River could send floodwaters spilling into homes and businesses across many parts of Shelby County early this week.
The 3 to 7 inches of rain expected by Wednesday could bring "catastrophic" flooding, the National Weather Service said Saturday night. The county Office of Preparedness said residents should be on the alert for rising water and prepare to evacuate.See the full content of this document
