Landscape Restoration / Tennessee Roots -- Raises Money for Governor's Mansion Landscape Restoration

Summary

Many garden enthusiasts recently attended the First Lady's Luncheon, celebrating "Tennessee Roots: Planting seeds for our future," which raised private money for landscape restoration of the Governor's Mansion.

This project is part of the Tennessee Executive Residence Preservation Foundation II, as created by Tennessee Public Acts of 1999, Chapter 212 which is a not-for-profit organization that was actually incorporated on Dec. 5, 2000. The purpose of the foundation is to purchase, receive through loan, or otherwise acquire furnishings, fixtures, works of art, and other articles which are of Tennessee origin or of particular historic or artistic interest of the citizens of Tennessee. East Memphian Kim Pitts, a member of the Tennessee Residence Foundation Board, served as chairman of the First Lady's Luncheon event. Her goal was to have participation from across the entire state of Tennessee and she was very successful in creating enthusiasm by approaching garden clubs and women's organizations throughout Tennessee.
