Summary


The larger-than-life experiences of nearly 30 World War II veterans, a vast majority representing the Mid-South area, will be preserved thanks to author Victor L. Robilio Jr. whose book "The Way It Was" recounts the terror and triumph of the "Greatest Generation." The book launched Nov. 2, a befitting prelude to Veteran's Day on Nov. 11.

"The Way It Was" features individual accounts and journal entries from the soldiers who served in the war, with more than 100 photos.

Remembrances of Wwii -- Mid-South Veterans Combine to Share Memories of Conflict

"The Way It Was" is the fourth published book by Robilio, an East Memphian.

"The WWII book represents an investment of time spanning three decades," said Robilio. "In total, I collected more than 200 oral histories from our country's veterans through my TV program, 'Winds of History.' The book became a culmination of that investment."
