"There's been a lot of talk about hip-hop being dead," says Memphis native Drumma Boy, aka Christopher Gholson. "But that's not the case."

As one of hip-hop's hottest producers and head of the Drum Squad, the 24-year-old Gholson is single-handedly trying to prove that the genre still has some life and creative directions left. "I'm trying to add to that," he says, "to represent quality music from Memphis and the Third Coast."
