Worried that late-arriving 2010 Census figures will generate election frustration - and possibly lawsuits - in 2011, the DeSoto Board of Supervisors will look into special state legislation to allow the county to delay the March 1 qualifying deadline.

"We know we can't push any elections back," Supervisor Bill Russell said at Monday's meeting. "But we aren't sure about the qualifying deadline, and that's the one that puts us behind the 8 ball right now."
