Pusser's Daughter to Sign Bio

Summary

Dwana Pusser, best known as the daughter of "Walking Tall" Sheriff Buford Pusser, comes to Davis-Kidd at 1 p.m. Saturday to sign "Walking On," (Pelican, $23).

From the book's cover, you can glean a brief, somewhat brutal bio of the man who fought "gamblers, crooks, mobsters and murderers" in McNairy County, Tennessee, in the 1960s. A few numbers: In six years as sheriff, Pusser jailed more than 7,500 people, was stabbed seven times, shot eight times, and fought six men at once, sending three to the hospital and three to jail. In other words, he's got a rightful claim to the label of "legendary."
