WASHINGTON - Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and eight of the nine House members from Tennessee on Thursday said they support efforts to permit governors and city mayors to modify or end federal court consent decrees entered into by their predecessors.
Alexander and Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., filed a bill in the Senate on Thursday that they say would untie the hands of newly elected government officials subject to the terms of consent decrees and end "democracy by court decree."See the full content of this document
