A Germantown resident hoping to preserve a system of elected Shelby County officials has launched a petition to put the issue before voters in August.
John Lunt, a financial consultant and organizer of the grassroots group Concerned Citizens of Shelby County, said he's concerned with changes to the county's charter that could turn the offices of sheriff, trustee, register, assessor and county clerk into appointed jobs.See the full content of this document
