GOLSTER - The lack of town Democratic or Republican executive committees means candidates for 2009 municipal elections can only qualify as independent, according to town clerk Monzella Tickles.

A previous Democratic committee is inactive after members moved, she said, and no one ran for the positions in the last election. Tickles said aldermen learned of the situation in January.
