Summary


At least one state legislator wants to switch to a closed primary voting system in Tennessee, and others are expected to support what would be a step in the wrong direction for state elections.

Senate Majority Leader Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, running so far to the right in his campaign for governor that he has taken to calling Islam a "cult," is the only candidate for governor who has endorsed primaries in which voters would have to make their party preference known well in advance of election day.
