New Stations to Monitor Water, Wind

BAY ST. LOUIS - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association says the first of four new hurricane-hardened water level observing stations is being installed in coastal waters.

During a Friday ceremony marking deployment of the NOAA Sentinel, officials said the 25-foot-tall stations are designed to provide real-time water level and meteorological data to help coastal authorities and the public prepare for tides generated by severe coastal storms.
