The city will move police hiring away from the Human Resources Division and back to the Memphis Police Department, according to Human Resources Director Quintin Robinson.

In an Aug. 24 letter to Mayor A C Wharton, Robinson said he studied the police hiring practices of several cities, including Dallas, Houston and Atlanta, and found police hiring in those cities was done by police departments, with some assistance from human resources.
