Memphis City Schools will gladly accept $37.5 million from the city today, but school officials are balking at the rest of Mayor A C Wharton's proposed settlement with the district.

In a letter Wednesday to the city attorney , school board attorney Dorsey Hopson says the courts ordered the city to pay $57million, not to propose ways to reduce the bill.
