BAGHDAD - An American Army sergeant who shot and killed five fellow soldiers at a counseling center on a military base in Iraq Monday had been disarmed during an earlier altercation at the center, officials said.

He was driven back to the center, where he was a patient, later in the day. He produced another weapon which he apparently had concealed and opened fire. ABC News, without identifying a source, reported that two of the dead were clinic staff and three were soldiers waiting for treatment.
