One inmate was shot and another slightly injured Friday, and Crittenden County investigators are trying to find out how someone was able to sneak the small-caliber gun used in the shooting into the jail.

At about 9 a.m., a jailer at the 320-inmate prison in West Memphis heard the sounds of a fight. When guards arrived , they discovered the wounded inmate. The other injured inmate had minor cuts and abrasions.
