PASS CHRISTIAN - The headstone of Dr. John Jones "J.J." Thornton, who once commanded the 6th Mississippi Infantry, is in the Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian, where he retired as a pharmacist.

Nothing indicates he is also in the Civil War history books.
