NASHVILLE - Only one of the 41 economic-development specialists on Gov. Phil Bredesen's trade mission to Germany is from West Tennessee, largely because the Memphis area is not expected to lure many of the parts manufacturers that will supply Volkswagen's new auto plant in Chattanooga.

The trip is focused on cementing Tennessee's relationship with the world's third-largest automaker and on persuading German parts makers that will supply the Chattanooga assembly lines to locate in Tennessee, Bredesen and Economic Development Commissioner Matt Kisber said Wednesday in a conference call from Berlin.
