Enemies, Too, Suffer When War Is Waged

Summary


As I write this, American troops are engaged on three fronts: Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. Two administrations have told us that innocent people - there and here - will be safer because of our military action.

I am a rabbi, not a geopolitical expert. And this column is not about whether we should or should not be involved in these particular military campaigns. It is about a particular challenge to religion and people of faith when force seems necessary to protect the innocent and to oppose evil.
