AKINS, JR., 62, of Memphis, departed this life Thursday, May 31, 2007. He was a retired Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie Akins of Memphis; his daughter, Tammy Bates of Charlotte, NC; his son, James A. Payne, Jr. of Memphis; seven grandchildren, Crystal Payne and Jamie Payne, both of Memphis, Chelsea Payne, Meghan Payne, Austin Payne and Noah Payne of Ecru, MS, and Blake Coker of Cordova; and two great-grandchildren, Darrion Littlejohn and Kory Pettigrew, both of Memphis. Our beloved Papaw will be dearly missed.
