More than 300 volunteers have committed to helping change the lives of older foster children through Governor Phil Bredesen's Mentoring Initiative, exceeding the program's first-year goal by 20 percent. So far, eight of those adults have even gone further by taking steps to become foster or adoptive parents to the youth they mentor.
The good news about the mentoring initiative's initial success comes in the midst of National Volunteer Month, the governor said.See the full content of this document
