Summary


Primary elections to select Democratic and Republican candidates for Mississippi's First Congressional District seat are March 11. Three Republicans and five Democrats are vying to represent their parties in the Nov. 4 general election, along with one independent and a candidate representing the Green Party. The winner will fill the seat formerly held by Roger F. Wicker, whom Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour named to fill the U.S. Senate seat from which Trent Lott resigned in mid-December.
