It's only the end of August, but work has already begun for November's Ballet DeSoto production of "The Nutcracker." The 5th annual stage show is set for Nov. 7-11 at the DeSoto Civic Center Theatre.

Last Saturday, children's auditions were held at the Stars in Motion Performing Arts School in Southaven, casting parts for angels, which open Act II, and puppets for the party scene. "We like for those children to be able to do some light tumbling to add interest to the stage," said Jill Morris, school director.
