Houston's Ronald Boyett shook off a subpar season to lead the Mustangs to another Region 8-AAA boys cross country championship Friday at Shelby Farms. And White Station freshman Savannah Jordan announced her presence with authority, taking the girls title with a strong finishing kick to hold off Collierville's Danielle Myers.
Boyett thought he was going to have company down the stretch from Collierville senior Mason Shepherd, but he was able to pick up the pace in the final two tenths, while Shepherd faded a bit on the final downhill slope of the 5K Champions Course.
