With ample warning over the weekend that warm air from Texas would collide with arctic air in the Mid-South to produce snow, the region was prepared with treated roads and shuttered schools and colleges.

While it provided a holiday for thousands of students in Memphis, Shelby County, DeSoto County, West Memphis and Marion schools, as well as colleges including the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers University, the mantle of snow made traveling Monday an adventure.
