JACKSON - A Houston, Texas, company backed by Silicon Valley investors plans to build three plants in Mississippi to convert wood into a crude oil substitute that produces few gashouse emissions when refined into gasoline, Gov. Haley Barbour and the company's president said Thursday.

Kior Inc. has asked the state for $75 million worth of incentives, triggering a special legislative session that begins today, to help build the three plants - in Columbus, Newton and a third within 40 miles of Bude in southwest Mississippi.
