Laundry attendant Sheila Williams of Applingwood Healthcare Center was recently honored as the Tennessee Health Care Association's Memphis District Caregiver of the Year. She received the award Aug. 29 during THCA's Convention and Trade Show in Nashville.

Williams is known for taking care of the clothes of her facility's residents, making sure all items are sorted, laundered and returned to each room each day. But more important , she is also known for reaching out to help patients, families and other staff members in any way she can, whether it's simply assisting with an activity or volunteering to stay over during a snowstorm. Patients look at her with joy as she makes her way around the facility; and she has not missed a day of work in her eight years there.
