As major corporations continue to struggle and flounder, individuals who work for themselves are finding strength in numbers. Born out of an earlier economic disaster that struck the American job market, a group of Memphis professional freelance designers, writers and photographers, who call themselves 901Creatives, say they are again growing in ranks.

Prior Knowledge Unnecessary for Women's Gun Class

Among the continuing education classes offered at the University of Memphis this fall is a course called "Firearm Safety from a Woman's Perspective." Taught by certified handgun permit instructor Neena Ashley Howell, the course aims to make women more knowledgeable about guns. "Typically, I will have people in this class who have never even touched a gun before," said Howell.

Partying Saturday night at Zoo Rendezvous at the Memphis Zoo, Barbara and Kevin Davis reminisced about their wedding, which took place at Zoo Rendezvous 17 years ago. Their first date was at the zoo fund raiser, so they decided to get married there, Barbara said. She wore a leopard-print top and they had a "Beauty and the Beast" wedding cake. Zoo Rendezvous was "small, intimate" that year, she said.
