Teacher Known for Her Warmth, Good Cooking

Wife, mother, teacher, gourmet cook and uniter, Mary McNaughton Welsh was all that and more to her family and friends. Mrs. Welsh, who died Friday at age 79, was known as a strict teacher when she taught at St. Augustine, the city's first African- American Catholic Church, and later at Bishop Byrne High School, where she was Teacher of the Year for the 1993-1994 school year.
