Shelby County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer just moments after he pulled over a female motorist. Authorities suspect other drivers, especially women, might have been stopped by the same man.

Lisa Kurts Gallery is open for business after several weeks of locked doors, unanswered telephones and a threat of foreclosure. Local animal lovers gathered at the East Memphis home of Dr. John and Claire Brophy for a backyard summer party with a purpose. The soiree was a fundraiser for the Animal Protection Association (APA), an organization created in 1978 to prevent pet homelessness. State Rep. Faces Court Date -- Hardaway Arrested On License, Insurance Charges in Miss.

NASHVILLE - State Rep. G.A. Hardaway of Memphis faces charges of driving on a suspended license and driving without proof of insurance in Olive Branch, police there confirmed Tuesday. Hardaway, 54, was arrested during a Sunday morning checkpoint on Pleasant Hill Road near State Line Road set up for driver's license, insurance and license plate checks by Olive Branch Police.

Over-Budget Contractors to Get Bonus

CHATTANOOGA - The Tennessee Valley Authority agreed to pay $42 million in bonuses and other fees to contractors for work on the Browns Ferry reactor restart that ran $90 million over budget. With TVA rates about to increase by 20percent, the directors agreed to pay Bechtel Power Corp. and Stone and Webster Construction Inc. $15.5 million each, plus another $11.3 million in fees to settle a legal dispute.
